This code hides the news that shows up next to the search box up top near the members area. It's useful if you are using Agent Moose's News Box code. First ensure you have this in your headers: <script src="http://YOURFORUM.smfforfreeX.com/jquery.js"></script> Replace YOURFORUM and X in that with whatever is appropriate for your forum. Then put this in your footers. <script> //Made by Omikron 9861 $("tbody tr td.titlebg2:contains(News)").hide(); </script>

Maybe I am misunderstanding it then, lol.....Admin > Edit forum news > leave totally blank and no news shows up. I cant see it on my forum, not even the word news. Also, this is how mine is set Admin > Configuration > Current theme > uncheck enable news Is this what we are talking about? That news section? If not, I apologize for butting in

But I managed to figure out a use. Suppose you are using Moose's SMC News Box, which does not work on machines where javascript is disabled, if you disable news, even those who can't see the newsbox(SMC) can't see it. This will disable it only where javascript works and so should mooses smc news box. Remote, but not completely useless.
